Stormboyz - Da Fly-Boyz |
|
|
History: |
Some Orks will try anything to get themselves into combat quicker. Although some Orks consider it insane, Stormboyz regularly strap themselves to Rokkits and fly across the battle field. Grimjaw's resident Stormboyz Squadron, 'Da Fly-Boyz', joined Grimjaw after their Waagh was defeated. Seeing the power of another Warboss and without a Clan to return to, the Stormboyz were quickly recruited. Grimjaw makes excellent use of the Stormboyz in his Kunnin' Plans, sending them off on seemingly suicidal missions to distract the enemy. Da Fly-Boyz must be luck though, because no matter how dangerous the situation, they always emerge alive. |
|
The Model: |
Da Fly-Boyz are all standard Stormboyz models with the
exception of the Kaptin. Each boy was made glued together as normal,
although one model was given two Sluggas and another wields two axes
above his head. All of the Boyz were given helmeted heads to make
the Kaptin stand out. The Kaptin was made of Ork and Orc pieces. As
well as the standard legs, left slugga arm, metal body and Rokkit
he was given the Orc spiky mace and the Orc head with the short tuft
of hair that splits into three. I also gave him the rokkit with two
fins and then modelled an extra fin on the top of it to make him stand
out further. |
Kommandos - Da Bak-Stabbaz |
|
|
History: |
Kommandos are the most un-Orky of Orks. They can often be found near Imperial Guard sites and have an unhealthy obsession with strange ideas like camouflage. Grimjaw first spotted the Kommandos when he was fighting against "Da 'Umies in da grey kamo". The night after the battle, Da Bak-Stabbaz found their way into Grimjaw's tent. They offered their services and have followed Waagh! Grimjaw ever since. Like most Kommandos, their favourite position is skulking through dense terrain to outflank the enemy and kill them from behind. Grimjaw takes advantage of this and sends Da Bak-Stabbaz around the flanks or through forests to attack from another direction as the main Waagh crashes into the front of the battle line. |

The Model: |
Most of the Kommando models were converted, as Games
Workshop don't currently make any. To fit in with the back-stabbing
nature of Kommandos, they are all armed with swords or knives. These
are assorted weapons from both the Ork and Orc sprues. I used Ork
swords and the small Orc dagger. The Kaptin had his weapon swapped.
I took the knife with the square hilt from the Ork sprue and the
arm with the small dagger from the Orc sprue, removed the dagger,
removed the handle from the knife and then glued the knife where
the dagger was. This made a suitably impressive weapon for the Kaptin
to stab someone with. The Kaptin and two of his Boyz were also given
military head-gear. Where most of the Boyz had plain helmeted heads,
two boyz had bald heads and the Kaptin had the scarred eye head.
Using Green Stuff, I modelled berets onto the Boyz and a military
peaked cap onto the Kaptin. To make the small visor on the cap I
used a tiny piece of thin plastic, pushed into position using tweezers. ![]() |
