Soul Binding: The Soul Binding is the ritual of combining a Adeptus Astra Telepathica psyker's soul with a small amount of the Emperor's power. Without this, no psyker could hope to transmit a message through the immaterium.
The ritual is not without its drawbacks. Some psykers do not survive the touch of the Emperor, and the majority who do survive turn blind due to the power. Once a psyker has been joined with the Emperor, though, his powers are increased and some even claim to have a greater understanding of the Universe around them.
