Legion

Legion: The original organisation size of the Space Marines. Numbers could be many thousands, depending on how many recruits could be found and initiated. Each legion had its own Primarch, homeworld and heraldry. The legions weresplit up after the Horus Heresy so that they could not pose such a threat to the Imperium again. One chapter founded from each Legion was allowed to keep the parent name and heraldry, while each of the Second Founding chapters was created afresh from the same brothers and gene-seed.
