L'Anguille

Warning: This definition may contain spoilers from any number of Games Workshop novels or source books.

L'Anguille: A Bretonnian city on the mouth of the River Sannez, in the north-west of the country. L'Anguille is the entrance to Bretonnia for most of the country's trade by sea, but its significance as a trading port is eclipsed by the free city of Marienburg, whose position at the mouth of the Reik affords easier access to the heart of the Old World. Nonetheless, L'Anguille maintains many docks and quays for large ocean-going vessels on their way down-river to Couronne.

L'Anguille also serves as the major port for the Royal Navy of Bretonnia, and it is presumed to be the home of Admiral Henri Lamorte, who commanded the Bretonnia fleet which defeated the Tomb King Settra at the Battle of Savage Point in 1175 (IC).

L'Anguille's most famous edifice is its Lighthouse. Rumoured to have been constructed by Elves before the Elf-Dwarf conflicts (4000 High Elf Calendar, -2000 IC), it remains standing thanks to powerful magics and mighty construction. The Lighthouse stands a towering 1500 feet tall, making it the tallest structure in the Old World. It is shaped as an octagon, which tapers from 150 yards aross at the base to the highest platform 50 yards wide at the pinnacle. The Bretonnians use this structure as their barracks, Governor's palace and Town Hall. The beacon atop the Lighthouse is raised a further 75 feet from the top of the tower itself, and can be seen in Albion.
